State Rep. Ron Robinson, R-Utica, today supported President Trump’s announcement that Selfridge Air National Guard Base will receive new F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets, replacing the retiring A-10 Thunderbolts. House Resolution 78 was adopted on the House floor to celebrate the President’s decision of the new fighter mission for Selfridge. The new fighter mission will support approximately 5,000 personnel and drive an estimated $850 million in economic activity, with much of it concentrated in Macomb County

“Selfridge is not just a military base. It is a symbol of pride and strength for Macomb County,” said Robinson. “This next generation fighter mission puts Michigan on the bleeding edge of military technology and sends a surge of optimism and energy through our whole state. This is an incredible win for Macomb County, but we’re not done yet.”

Rep. Robinson expressed optimism about securing additional funding for Selfridge Air Base in the state budget to galvanize the action of the Trump administration.

“I am proud to support House Resolution 78 to commend President Trump for his leadership. I’d also like to thank Speaker Hall, Congressman James as well as the countless local officials, community advocates, and service members in Macomb County who never gave up on Selfridge,” said Robinson. “I will continue to be an advocate for Selfridge Air National Guard Base and the brave national guardsmen who call it home.”
