Event honors 20th anniversary of Sept. 11 attacks

At a 9/11 ceremony at the state Capitol, state Rep. Doug Wozniak today paid tribute to Clinton Township Police Chief Fred Posavetz, who passed away from COVID-19.

Wozniak was joined by Posavetz’s wife, Marsha, at the ceremony.

“Chief Posavetz was a titan in Macomb County, and his legacy is an example to all,” said Wozniak, of Shelby Township. “Our community is a better, safer place because of the honorable service of Chief Posavetz.”

The Michigan House of Representatives today conducted its annual ceremony commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. At the memorial, legislators also recognize Michigan first responders and members of the military who died in the line of duty during the last year.

Posavetz, who resided in Washington Township, served at the Clinton Township Police Department for 41 years, becoming chief in 2007. He passed away in March after a battle with COVID-19.
