State Rep. Mark Tisdel visited five local businesses in Greater Rochester on Thursday, which marked the second and final day of his 12-stop, spring small-business tour.

“The flexibility of our local job providers, management and staff to adjust to difficult circumstances over the last year continues to amaze me,” said Tisdel, of Rochester Hills. “The hard-working people in our community are resilient, and dedication and innovation have placed these local establishments on the road to recovery.”

Tisdel visited the following businesses in Rochester and Rochester Hills on Thursday:

  • Next Steps 4 Seniors,
  • Rochester School of Martial Arts,
  • Buffalo Wild Wings,
  • Royal Park Hotel, and
  • A-Auto Point Collision.

“The pandemic and restrictive orders from the administration have affected every person and business in our state, and each industry has faced its own unique challenges,” Tisdel said. “The team at Buffalo Wild Wings mentioned disruptions to supply chains for chicken and alcohol; Gary Piontkowski of A-Auto Point Collision cited reduced vehicle usage as a reason for declining business; and leadership at Next Steps 4 Seniors discussed many difficulties that nursing home residents have experienced with their care and shared with the organization.

“All twelve of the businesses I visited, like countless others in our Greater Rochester community, have found creative ways to overcome these challenges; each one has implemented safety protocols to keep customers and employees safe while adapting to an ever-evolving economy. The Royal Park Hotel, for instance, has expanded patio seating for outdoor dining and converted unused hotel rooms into private, indoor dining rooms, and A-Auto Point Collision has found new recruitment tools amidst staffing shortages, hiring talent through veteran initiatives and work release programs.”

Tisdel previously toured seven businesses in downtown Rochester on the first round of his business tour:

  • Tonia’s Victorian Rose,
  • Red Knapp’s,
  • Arterra Realty,
  • Paint a Miracle,
  • Rochester Bike Shop,
  • Pure Barre, and
  • Bellissima Bridal Salon.

The 45th House district, which Tisdel represents, includes the cities of Rochester and Rochester Hills and part of Oakland Township.
