Contact: John Roth

State Rep. John Roth, of Traverse City, has been appointed to the House Families, Children, and Seniors Committee by Speaker Jason Wentworth.

The committee is responsible for issues and legislation pertaining to the state’s population of seniors and young people. Further, the panel strives to promote the preservation of the family and oversees social service programs.

“I am very appreciative of this new role and eager to begin,” Roth said. “This assignment gives families and seniors across Grand Traverse County an even larger seat at the table in the Legislature as important issues and proposals are being discussed. They’ll have a voice in this process through their representation.

“We must continue to pursue policies that keep our most vulnerable – including children and our elderly population – safe while allowing them to thrive here in Michigan.”

Roth represents residents in Grand Traverse County through the 104th District. The first-term legislator also serves on House committees devoted to commerce and tourism; energy; health policy; and transportation.
