Legislator tours childcare center ahead of National Child Care Provider Day

State Rep. Graham Filler this week toured a DeWitt childcare center to show his appreciation to the providers and learn more about their day-to-day operations.

In anticipation of National Child Care Provider Day on May 7, Filler toured Looking Glass Child Development Center.

“It’s incredibly important for us all to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication of the men and women who spend each day caring for the children of others,” Filler said. “Childcare providers have always served an essential role in our communities, and the pandemic has only highlighted even more just how vital they are. I’m deeply appreciative of the small business owners, administrators and workers who have gone to great lengths and overcome many challenges to continue providing childcare over this past year.”

Looking Glass Child Development Center employs 40 people and cares for hundreds of children, providing a great community service to families in the DeWitt area.

“I was quite impressed by their operation,” Filler said. “These providers have worked so hard to keep their doors open and keep the kids safe and healthy.”
