House Republican Leader Matt Hall, R-Richland Township, on Wednesday issued the following statement after House Republicans secured passage of two Republican-led plans:

“In this era of shared power, House Republicans are achieving the priorities of our caucus members and delivering wins for the people of Michigan. Today, our caucus secured passage of a plan spearheaded by Rep. Dave Prestin to extend temporary licenses for EMTs and paramedics — helping health care providers maintain the emergency medical professionals they need to aid their communities. We also advanced Rep. Dale Zorn’s plan to ensure tow trucks can access stranded drivers and broken vehicles.

“Even though Democrats continue to reject our proposals for more balance and openness in House committees and the House floor, they’re moving our way and we’re getting results. The speaker is realizing that when one small-ball offer fails, he has to make a better offer. These bills were big priorities for Reps. Prestin and Zorn, and Republicans are hard at work to secure accomplishments for Michiganders that fulfill our platform. If the speaker and House Democrats keep moving our way, we’ll have a real shared power agreement in no time.”

House Bills 4613-14 passed the House with broad, bipartisan support, and House Bill 4026 passed unanimously. Hall and House Republicans continue to call for more bipartisan collaboration as the House of Representatives is split between 54 Republicans and 54 Democrats.
