Kahle supports measure recognizing Home Care Awareness Month
RELEASE|April 13, 2021

State Rep. Bronna Kahle, of Adrian, has co-sponsored a measure to declare April as Home Care Awareness Month in the state of Michigan.

Kahle said she believes caregiving is the ultimate form of love and respect.

“I celebrate, respect and appreciate caregivers across Michigan who make it possible for aging residents to remain at home,” said Kahle, who previously served as director of the Adrian Senior Center. “Aging at home has significant health and emotional benefits over institutional care. This alternative wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of home caregivers.”

Kahle also said aging in place can create systemic cost-savings for the Medicare and Medicaid programs since these programs pay for the majority of long-term care today.

“Michigan’s existing long-term care costs could be reduced considerably by promoting aging at home with the aid of in-home personal care service providers,” Kahle said.

House Resolution 72 was adopted with overwhelming support.
